In 1945, Harry Yergat recognized that the Los Angeles area of California had a strong need for grape leaves due to the Armenian and Greek immigrants that migrated to this area in the early part of the 1900’s.
Harry was an immigrant himself and had immigrated from Garzak, Georgia almost 30 years earlier. With determination and the help of his wife Rose, Harry started harvesting and packing grape leaves in his garage and would then make trips back and forth to the Los Angeles area to sell his product. It was a humble beginning.
In 1970, Harry and Rose’s son, Kirk continued the business part-time while he also worked as a Pharmacist. Eventually Kirk focused on the business full-time and it grew into what it is today. Presently, Kirk’s children are running the day-to-day management of the business. |
